Owl Always Love You

Happy Friday!!  I've been waiting all week to wear this outfit.  Fridays are jeans days at work. The tank top is one of the ones I got on mega sale from the LOFT.  It was one I got the same day I got the pink shirt from a couple of posts ago.  It was after a stressful morning of trying to get out of downtown after dress rehearsal while the Tulsa Run was going on.  Every way was blocked!  I called my husband, frustrated.  He had his handy dandy map pulled up and was trying to help me get out but everywhere I turned was barricaded.  It was rough.  Tears were shed, steering wheel pounded.  It was not one of my prouder moments.  All I wanted to do was to get from point A to point B as easy as possible.  Of course, all of the 'east as possible' routes were blocked.  I had to go WAY out of my way to get out and around and to the LOFT where my mom and a friend were waiting.  Actually, they were already there and I just invited myself along.  That was before I knew it was going to take forever to get there.  And once there, in the presence of Mama and her friend Marianne, I could relax.  And buy things.  I got a cute blue dress, two tops and a necklace.  All under $40!  Like I said, things were on mega sale.
 
    Once you buy things on mega sale, it's hard to go back to buying full priced items.  I hardly buy full priced clothing any more.  I'm a sale girl through and through.  And there's nothing wrong with saving a buck or $20 here and there.

  The owl necklace was a Christmas present from a roommate in college.  It's funny.  She and I got each other the same necklace, but she gave me a gold one and I gave her a silver one.  Win-win situation!  That same year, and from the same group of roommates I also got another owl necklace, a wooden owl totem pole (which is really cool and unique!  I'll have to post about it sometime...) and an owl t-shirt.  Hmmm One would think I like owls or something...though 'like' might be a slight understatement.  Our guestroom is decorated in owls.

  The earrings.  Yes, those are .22 caliber shells.  Made by my honey.  Who crafted all of those metal links himself and put them all together.  Gifted them to me in a little green jewelry box.  They were the icing on the top for my Steam Punk costume that year.  I have loved them and worn them ever since.  Such a crafty Husband.

Perfect Fall Day

 Saturday was such a beautiful Fall day!  Mom and I got to spend the first part of the day at our church Christmas choir retreat.  We had a workshop with the amazing Dr. Bill Green and his wife Linda. (You can read an amazing article about them here.)  They were both a big blessing to have.  Dr. Green led the choir for many years at Oklahoma's Baptist church camp, Falls Creek.  He is most known for his rendition of  the song "Life is so sweet and my joy is complete, for I'm 'Saved, Saved, Saved!'"  It was really inspiring to see how much our choir stepped up.  I am very much looking forward to our Christmas production in mid-December!!
     We had our retreat at a beautiful Episcopal church tucked away amid the colorful Fall leaves in Sand Springs, nestled along with a duck pond where a lot of Sand Springians go to feed t he ducks.  It was truly a perfect day.

Waving Goodbye

 And so we wave goodbye to the close of another fun Halloween season.  I got ready for work early today so began the process of removing some of my Halloween decorations and preparing them to be packed up for another 325 days until next September. (Halloween decorations go up mid September at our house.)  I put out the one thanksgiving decoration I have.  I'll tell you all about it tomorrow.

    Next begins the process of sorting through Christmas decorations, (I know, I know, I did the unthinkable and mentioned Halloween and Christmas in the same post,) deciding what to keep and what I can share with my sister and her new apartment.  Finding things to add and sorting through the numerous Christmas craft projects that I would like to do.  Not to mention the list of inside winter projects that Husband and I have lined up. (Built in bookcases and built in entertainment center?!?!)  It will all be a fun process.  For some reason I am already in the Thanksgiving/Christmas spirit, but don't worry, I'm not quite to the point yet that I'll start the non stop Christmas music.

{I had a delicious bowl of assorted chocolates all ready for trick-or-treaters last night.  We had none!!  I was very sad.  I had put up purple lights around our front door and everything.  *sigh* guess that just means more chocolate for us!  (Like we need it...)}

Bomber Jacket

Happy Wednesday, y'all!  (I refuse to call it happy h day.)  Today is nice and dreary.  To cheer me up I went with a neutral colored sweater with a lacy camisole, cozy leggings and boots, and my bomber jacket.  I'd been wanting this jacket from Target for so long.  The first Black Friday I actually got out for was with Husband and Rayah Sunshine and her husband.  This was their Christmas present to me.  I have loved it and used it a lot ever since.  For a pop of color I added a bright turquoise and gold necklace that I got at Vintage Market Days when it was here in town earlier this year.
  The iPhone case is another one that I made myself. You can read about it in an earlier post here.  It's my Halloween case.  I guess I'll have to be coming up with a Christmas one before I know it.  This hear has been going by so quickly!  Our one year wedding anniversary is going to be in 12 days!!  That's so hard to believe.  It hasn't felt like it's been that long.  I told Husband that there must be a time conspiracy afoot and that it's been increasingly getting faster.  Thanksgiving, then Christmas will be here so soon!  But until then, I think I'll enjoy my Halloween decorations just one more day.  Then I'll be putting them away and beginning the process of sorting through my Christmas decorations!  I have a lot of fun new ideas for this year.  I can't wait to share them with you!

Red Phone Booth- A Tardis?

What a good weekend!  Got some shopping in with mom and one of our dear friends, had a concert, attended our other church's Fall Fest and got crafty. (I'll show pictures once it's completely done!)

  I was excited to break out one of my Halloween shirts.  I don't know why I haven't been wearing these all month.  Last night, I broke out my little orange and black owl nightie shorts.  The shirt I'm wearing in these pictures is one of my favorite ones.  I got it at Target back when they had really cool Halloween shirts.  I haven't seen many like this in a while.  Then again, I kind of stopped looking when I didn't find any cool holiday shirts two years in a row.
  The green upholstery-looking coat I got from Wal*mart yeeears ago.  I haven't found one like it since.  I snatched it up while I could.  the first coat I picked up to try on like it, I stuck my hands in the pockets and found a couple of pills. *gross*  But that didn't deter me from such an awesome coat.  I simply chose a different one from the rack.  Problem solved.  It actually came with a detachable faux fur collar that I stopped wearing because I felt a little ridiculous wearing it.  Maybe since my style and tastes have changed I can try it again.  Now all I have to do is find it...

More of Merona

I'm taking this time to introduce the newest member of my accessory family, this Merona purse from Target.  I love it. I can fit everything in it; a pharmacy, a library, a cosmetic counter and of course my trusty Taurus .380. Paired with a good comfy outfit in which to run some errands.

In other news, I can't believe Halloween is next week!!  I have a few exterior decorations out.  The black cat in the window with the pumpkin holds a special place in my heart.  It was made by my grandpa, who has since gone to be with the Lord several years past.  I still miss him.  This is one of the fun little reminders that I have of him.  I love breaking it out every year.

"Olive juice!"

   Have you all ever tried the mouthing of "olive juice" across the room to someone?  It's supposed to look like you're saying 'I love you.'  Kind of like in the movies apparently all of the extras on set when filming busy cafe scenes or need filler words, they're supposed to say 'rhubarb' or 'watermelon' to give filler sound.  Ever notice how you can never really understand what any of  the extras are saying in the scenes?

    This dress is one of my favorite pieces of clothing.  Not only is it a beautiful shade of olive green, but it's good to wear in the warmer months and the cooler months.  Not to mention it goes with practically everything!  It's one of the few articles of clothing I own from Anthropologie.  It was on major sale.  $10!!  Paired with an animal print scarf and warm boots, I felt very fallish in this outfit.  Apparently Mom had the same idea!  We both showed up at choir last night wearing matching animal print scarves!  This is another case of the 'twinkies.'  I love these moments. I'll have to go back through my old pictures and find some of my favorite twinkie moments to share with you all!  though I believe one of my favorites had to have been several years ago when I got together with a group of friends and not only was there a set or two of twinkies, but there were 3!!  That's right folks.  3 sets of twinkies walking around my house.  How often does that happen?  Can't say that I've seen it too much.  But it really made my heart happy.

Selfie Tuesday

I'm trying to get more organized with my posts.  I apologize for my absence late last week.  I had a couple of training days for a new program at work and was away from any computers.  But I promise I am trying to get more organized.  I am planning on coming out with some good posts soon that I know you'll enjoy seeing!  But until then, here's a couple of selfies!  This is one of my new favorite shirts and necklace.  The necklace was one of the finds that came with the house.  As you might have seen in an older post, the storage shed in our backyard was crammed with stuff.  This necklace was in one of the drawers of t he jewelry armoire.

Animal Print in Autumn

I used to not like animal print.  I don't know why.  I always just seemed to have an aversion to it.  Maybe it was because I used to be a tomboy (hard t o believe, I know!) and that was just too girly for me.  I think the closest I got to animal print was the year I was a leopard in preschool.  You better believe I was the cutest little leopard there ever was!  I've slowly gotten into the animal print craze.  It started with a tiger striped jacket that I got on one of our annual trips to Eureka Springs a few years ago.  After that, the hunt began for the perfect gray/black leopard print scarf.  Everything else just kind of fell into place.

Maroon Dream Pants

For those of you that missed my previous post about my lovely maroon pants, these were my desired pants for the season. (From Sams Club.)  Now that I've got one pair of bold colored pants how can I stop at one?  I need more...
 While I'm on the subject, if y'all are looking for colorful jeggings, Walmart, of all places has a great affordable selection! All for the small price of $11.49!!  Later this week, I'll post about the pair of jeggings that I got from there.

Breakin Out Fall Clothes

 So with Fall officially upon us, that means I get to break out the layers, scarves and boots indicative of Fall weather!  The mornings have been a crisp 61 degrees.  Perfect for cups of coffee with toasted bagels and pumpkin creamcheese.  (Which is a super simple recipe: I just started off with 4oz cream cheese then stirred in about two heaping spoonfuls of pumpkin filling, dashes of nutmeg, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and a little pumpkin pie spices.  Mix it all up and voila!)

  Today, I got to do some more job training for school, but instead of teaching 2-5 year olds, we started off teaching lap babies and preschoolers. Let me tell you, they are so precious.  I was the shiny new toy that they all wanted to sit next to.  Some of the teachers told me that the outfit I was wearing (pictured below,) looked like something straight off of Pinterest.  I took that as a big compliment!  I'm trying to start accessorizing more and fancying things up, hence the numerous bracelets I was wearing.  I'm trying combos out to see what works and what doesn't.  It's been a fun process!

Pretty in Blue

    My mom, grandma, sister and I went on a shopping trip to Dallas several months ago as a Christmas gift from our parents.  One of the stores we stopped at, (a store whose name I can't quite recall at the moment) had this beautiful shirt in several different colors.  Grandma swooped this blue shirt off the rack and bought it.  Lo and behold, several months later within whose closet should it be found?  That's right, mine.  Grandma no longer wanted it so I got this shirt, along with another similar shirt but in denim.  Grandma had always been conscious and wary of some of my clothing choices when I was younger, (wearing a Halloween costume to school??) not ironing some clothes, having messy hair...just to name a few things.  But this option she approved of!

{A necklace given to me by Hubby after we'd been dating for a month.  He actually surprised me in Edmond (where I'd been living at the time,) and had put together a scavenger hunt for me around my house.  My friends and I had just returned from a friend's beautiful wedding shower.  What a sight it would have been to see 4 or 5 of us girls flocking around the house from spot to spot, looking for the next clue.  The hunt ended in one of my dresser drawers where nestled among my clothing was a little cream jewelry box.  He then showed up at the house!  And I'd wondered why my friend, Lizzle had been trying to herd us quickly from the wedding shower...}

{Twinkies! I just love accidental twinkie moments.  This brightened my morning when one of my fellow coworkers showed up at work in practically the same outfit!  Just goes to show how versatile one piece of clothing can be.}

The Burgundy Pants

In one of my Pinterest cruisings I ran across a picture of a pair of beautiful maroon/burgundy pants.  It then became my mission to find comparable pants to add to my Fall wardrobe since they were sooo pretty.  These pants are so comfy and stylish at the same time.  I think they're almost like a stretchy polyester type of material but I love them.  I paired them with a cream top from Ann Taylor (that I got while on our honeymoon) and gray snakeskin shoes from Targe.  I think the shirt looks fine with it, a safe choice, but isn't as pop-y as I'd like.  That will be the next thing to find.  These aren't going to be the last you see of these pants!
